Sorry, did you forget to mention that the VW T-Roc R-Line comes standard with AWD while the Audi Q2 35 TFSI is only 2WD? That is a big difference worth highlighting!

    • @chasingcars

Yes, the 2.0T engine on both models adds AWD. It does make a difference, although for avoidance of doubt it’s still a fairly reactive system.

thank Tom for another great video. Being an owner of Q2 2.0 TDI, I certainly enjoy the sporty setting but also complain the harsh ride quality and plastic all around the cabin. Also want to point out the rear suspension for 35 TFSI isn’t independent which is a shame for a “premium “ brand. Another big factor which may push people away from Q2 is Audi has decided to discontinue Q2 in the near future.😢 , making the current model the last generation.

This is exactly the comparison I am making. Adding the Karoq Sportline, which is Skoda’s comparable vehicle mechanically, and optioning them all with available packages, would be great. Did you mention the T-Roc passenger seat never comes with electric adjustment - no matter which level or package you buy. Currently still leaning towards the Skoda Karoq, but will probably wait until the new model arrives with the outstanding multifunction dials. Lloyd

If you are not a Brand Snob you can look at the other group car that is 2/3 the price. (1/2 the price if you go for the 1.0 TSi). A Skoda Kamiq has no less space, no less fit and finish, no more NVH, no less features or functionality. To me the Audi interior is a bit dated and VW is trying to hard to be up todate, thus losing functionality and usability. Skoda is a nice middle ground of functionality and modernity.

    • @chasingcars

I've leased both these cars multiple times over the past few years. 19 inch wheels is a mistake on both in my opinion. Road noise, vibrations, makes decent roads feel like gravel. The 18s Feel like entirely different cars, much more pleasant to drive.
Otherwise Audis Control Scheme has been unmatched for 10 years in this segment. The optioned sound system is quite a lot better in Audi, The virtual cockit is bigger, build quality is much better. The Troc has a really nice feeling steering wheel, Better looking IQ lights, and rear cross alert, not available on the Audi.

🇦🇺 From my experience with Audi, it is almost impossible to buy a "base" model anything off the showroom floor. It appears they all come into this country with some sort of pack already installed. Maybe it's possible to order a base model if you are prepared to wait.....?

I mean why does the army not go back to red coat uniforms? I would take the t-roc over the Audi every day. The Dry Clutch 1.5 TSi on the Q2 is just favourable and also not tunable for more fun drives. I would rather Have a good 2.0 TSi wet clutch Platform to work on and make it come closer to something an Audi delivers, than being handicapped in modifying the weaknesses due to poor decisions and higher purchasing costs.
